NextGenU.org
Advancing equitable access to high-quality education through open learning, technology, and responsible AI.
NextGenU.org is a program of The Frank Foundation, providing free, high-quality online education in public health, medicine, nursing, health sciences, and professional development to learners, educators, institutions, and governments worldwide.
Our Mission
NextGenU works to expand equitable access to high-quality education by developing and sharing free, evidence-based learning resources and supporting institutions in strengthening education and training capacity.
Our work brings together open education, instructional design, global health, multilingual learning, and emerging technologies to make high-quality learning more accessible across settings and languages.
AI Solutions
NextGenU explores responsible uses of artificial intelligence to support education and knowledge access, including:
- Language and Translation: Machine translation and localization tools for low-resource and underserved languages.
- Learning Design: AI-supported development and adaptation of educational resources.
- Accessible Learning: Tools that help make educational content easier to access, understand, and use across different contexts.
- Human-Governed AI: Workflows designed to keep subject matter experts, educators, and human reviewers involved in the development and quality assurance process.
Language & Translation
NextGenU develops and evaluates multilingual resources and translation technologies to support access to education in languages that are often underrepresented in existing digital tools.
Current work hosted on Hugging Face includes machine-translation models and datasets supporting French and shiKomori language varieties.
Open Education
NextGenU provides free learning opportunities across areas including:
- Public health
- Medicine
- Nursing
